The Nebraska Association of Transportation Providers invites you to attend their 2024 Annual Meeting & Education. This event is a great time for learning, but more importantly, a time for networking. Catch up with old friends, meet newer managers, receive updates from industry leaders and discuss the needs of transit in Nebraska.

ADA Requirements for Bus & *Demand Responsive Services  

This course reviews the operating elements required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in providing fully accessible fixed route bus and demand responsive services (*ADA Paratransit, Dial-A-Ride, Deviated Fixed Route, Human Service Transportation, etc.) to people with disabilities.  Content includes Non-Discrimination Requirements, Assisting Riders with Disabilities (including riders using wheelchairs, walkers, hidden disabilities, etc.), Service Animals, Direct Threat/Denial of Service, Reasonable Modification, Driver Training, Accessible Information and ADA Paratransit requirements and much more…

SPEAKER: Jess Segovia of ADA Guru 

Segovia has spent his twenty-five year career creating innovative and fully accessible public transit and human services transportation programs and services. Jess has a unique background in transportation having worked in ADA Paratransit, fixed-route bus and rail, as well as a municipality and as a consultant. He now travels the country sharing his philosophy of "Embracing the Spirit of the ADA" and assisting transit agencies of all sizes in enhancing the quality and safety of their services. Observe, Assess, and Report-A Security Awareness

First Observer Plus is a TSA mission to increase security awareness of frontline transportation professionals by providing training to recognize suspicious activity that may be related to terrorism, to assess what they see, and methods for reporting their observations. By being aware of their surroundings in the work environment, transportation professionals can be the eyes and ears to observe activities that “don’t look right.” Participants will learn what may constitute as a terrorist threat in their transportation work environment. The training explores justifications and motives of terrorists, identifies stages and processes often employed in the planning and execution of a terrorist act, and teaches participants to recognize and report potential indicators. Participants are instructed not to intervene or engage suspicious persons or items, but to follow company reporting policies, which may include contacting local law enforcement and TSA.

SPEAKER: Ron Gann, Transportation Security Inspector, TSA

Gann is a Transportation Security Inspector for TSA Surface office in Omaha, Nebraska. The TSA office in Omaha serves both Nebraska and Iowa Surface Transportation entities providing security awareness presentations to large and small mass transit companies, school districts, contracted bus companies, railroad and trucking industries. The security programs and activities are provided for free and are voluntary. TSI Gann is one of hundreds of TSA surface transportation inspectors throughout the United States serving to protect the nation’s transportation systems to ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce.

ANNUAL MEETING

The NATP Annual Meeting will be held on October 16 to provide an update on association business and announce election results. Elections will be held electronically prior to the Annual Meeting. Submit your nomination to the NATP office by September 13. Regions up for election are the East and West and one At-Large position. HOTEL INFORMATION

Hotel rooms will be available at the Holiday Inn Hotel on Monday and Tuesday nights, October 14 and 15. You must reserve your hotel room through NATP when you register online. Hotel rooms must be reserved by September 13th. Hotel confirmation will be emailed the week of October 7. The Holiday Inn Hotel serves a complimentary hot breakfast buffet.

Vendors will need to make their own hotel reservations.
